In the summer of 2023 we added two 275-gallon IBC totes to store water. A neighbor was kind enough for us to fill them using over 100 feet of garden hose. In the winter of 2023 and spring of 2024 we built a full stand and roof over the system, collecting about 35 gallons for every inch of rainfall. This dramatically reduces our reliance on carting in water from home.
With most of the major construction of beds and infrastructure built, our next project will be a centerpiece to the common-area, an herb spiral.
The idea of these is that it is a 3d structure that allows for 4 distinct zones around the outside (full sun, mostly shade, early sun, and evening sun) as well as a gradient of water retention from dry on top to mostly wet on bottom. Ideally construction of this will be ready for Spring 2025
